Whats the difference between a wax (which I'm partial too) and a paint sealant? As you know, I love my paste wax, but I keep having different people / detail suppliers tell me to use a paint sealant.

What are the pro's and con's?

There are a few differences between wax and sealant.
-Wax is a natural product that is made from the Carnuba tree, whereas sealants are synthetic made in a lab
-Wax doesn't last as long as sealant.(approx. 6weeks vs 4-6 months)
-Wax gives a deeper,warmer shine. Sealant gives more of a glass type finish.
-Sealant is easier to apply and remove than wax.

I find the best way to go about this is by putting the sealant on first and then putting a layer of wax over the top. Not only do you get a deeper finish, you also get the peace of mind that once the wax wears off you still have the protection of the sealant.

What is the best way to remove water marks off the windows and the body work besides washing and polishing in the shade and when the surfaces are cool?

For the windows you use wet paper,eg scot towel on the glass and then wipe it dry with a dry one.
That workes realy well,Just as good as widex i think.

For the windows I just use a damp glass specific microfibre and then a dry microfibre. As for the paintwork always dry the car after washing then maybe go over it with a quick detailer or spray wax

What is the best way for cleaning my chrome look Alloy wheels? I like the effect that rim cleaner has on them - but apparently it is not a good idea to make a habit of using it - any suggestions?

Wheel cleaner shouldn't hurt them as long as its not acid based. If you are happy with the product you are using and it doesn't appear to be damaging the wheels it should be ok. Other than that just soap and water should clean them up ok if you are cleaning them consistantly

Engine / engine bay cleaning.

What do you find that works best? A general purpose cleaner or a specific brand engine cleaner? Any recommendations on brand?

It's for the VT, no clear coat to worry about.
