The following line from today's ABC news on line says it all. "Vale Richie Benaud - The soundtrack to summer has passed." For me Richie was one of the first TV faces and voices of my childhood. When I heard his voice on the TV, summer was right around the corner. Here's some classic Richie (old and new).... Richie on ball counting 35 years of cricket His last commentary stint in the UK. Richie's love of lamb RIP Richie. |

Spread many many years and one of a kind. I love my cricket and Richie always had something intelligent to say that summed up exactly what was happening. There will never again be a captain of the commentary team as good. |
