The following line from today's ABC news on line says it all.

"Vale Richie Benaud - The soundtrack to summer has passed."

For me Richie was one of the first TV faces and voices of my childhood. When I heard his voice on the TV, summer was right around the corner.

Spread many many years and one of a kind. I love my cricket and Richie always had something intelligent to say that summed up exactly what was happening.

There will never again be a captain of the commentary team as good.
