This was always a favorite day trip for me growing up. Remember the last national race there where they allowed the sadly small crowd walk the track at the end of the days racing. Was a very strange feeling walking on the track where many of our heroes had gone about their business knowing that would be the last time I would see the track.

Some good memories sitting on the hill here. First place I met Peter Brock, still have the photo with him and me on the wall taken in the back of the pits. Remember being there when Paul Morris literally set the track on fire on the startline. And my earliest memory as a kid standing on the fence in the last turn at night with a truck crashing head on into the wall right in front of me.

This place had something all racetracks now are missing, character. Both for the spectator watching the different characteristics of the cars sliding around, and for the drivers who all loved the flow of the track.

Now this is getting me depressed. Watch the last minute of this. Very depressing, a shame we have to give up our history to developers.
